TikTok Creator Rewards Requirements Explained
Who qualifies for TikTok's Creator Rewards Program, what it reportedly pays, why bought followers won't get you in, and four other ways to earn on TikTok.
TikTok's Creator Rewards Program pays eligible creators for views on longer videos. It replaced the old Creator Fund, and its entry rules are simple enough to list on one card. Getting past them takes more work than the numbers suggest, because one of the requirements can't be met without an audience that watches.
A word on sources: TikTok changes these terms from time to time, and much of what's online comes from third-party guides. Check the Creator Tools menu in your app for the rules that apply to you today.
The requirements

This list follows TT Calculator's guide to the program.
- 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
- Aged 18 or over (19 in South Korea).
- A personal account in good standing. Business, political and government accounts aren't eligible.
- Living in a region where the program is available.
- Videos longer than one minute.
- Original content.
Location is the requirement people miss. The program only runs in supported regions, and the list changes, so check Creator Tools and TikTok's Help Center before you plan around it. If you aren't in a supported region, the follower target won't help you, though other ways of earning may be open.
What it pays
TikTok doesn't publish a fixed rate, so every figure online comes from creators' reports. TT Calculator says reported US rates commonly fall between about $0.50 and $2.00 per 1,000 qualified views. Use that as a planning range, and expect less outside the US.
| Qualified views per month | At $0.50 per 1,000 | At $2.00 per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | $50 | $200 |
| 500,000 | $250 | $1,000 |
| 2,000,000 | $1,000 | $4,000 |
Only qualified views count, and that's a smaller number than your total. TikTok decides what qualifies, based on things like the video's length and whether the content is original and came through certain surfaces. You can run your own figures with the TikTok money calculator, where you set the rate yourself.
Why bought followers won't get you in
This is the honest bit, from a company that sells TikTok followers. On paper you could buy your way to 10,000 followers. That wouldn't get you the program, or if it did, it wouldn't pay you.
The 100,000-view requirement has to be met in a 30-day window, and the money itself comes from qualified views on long videos. Followers on their own produce none of that. TikTok also reviews applications and requires accounts in good standing, so you could end up with a rejected application, or removed from the program later, and with a weaker engagement rate as a bonus. We advise against buying followers or views to qualify for any monetization programme. Our safety guide explains the platform and legal risks in general.
How to reach the real thresholds
Start making one-minute videos now
The program pays for videos over a minute, and those are harder to hold attention on. Begin practising before you qualify. A video that keeps people for 70 seconds needs a story with a reason to stay: a question that gets answered at the end, a list with a number, or a process with a result.
Study your retention
Analytics shows you the point where people drop out. If everyone leaves at second 8, your opening promised something that the video didn't deliver. Our guide on how the TikTok algorithm works explains why watch time drives distribution.
Choose a topic that fits long videos
Explainers, storytime, tutorials, reviews and commentary all stretch naturally past a minute. Dance trends and quick jokes don't. If your account is built on 12-second clips, you may need a second format before you can earn from this program.
Post consistently, then double down
Most creators do better on a regular schedule than in bursts. Look at your top five videos of the last 90 days and make more on those lines. Your 100,000 views can come from one big video or lots of small ones, and a run of solid videos pays more reliably than one hit.
Keep your content original
Reposted clips, unedited footage from other sources and low-effort compilations won't qualify. If you use AI tools, check TikTok's labelling rules first. Also watch for community guideline strikes, which can affect your standing.
Applying
- Switch to a personal account if you're on a business one, because the program is aimed at personal accounts.
- Open TikTok Studio or Creator Tools in the app, and find Creator Rewards.
- Check the eligibility list, which shows your status against each requirement.
- Apply, then add your payment details once you're approved.
- Post eligible videos, and watch your estimated earnings in the dashboard.
Other ways to earn before you qualify
Creator Rewards often isn't the best money on TikTok anyway. Depending on your size and country, you can look at these:
- Brand deals. Small creators with a tight niche can land paid posts at far fewer than 10,000 followers. Our influencer pricing calculator gives you a starting rate.
- TikTok Shop affiliate commission, where you earn on products sold through your videos.
- LIVE gifts, which suit creators who enjoy talking to an audience in real time.
- Your own products, like a course, a template or a service, with the link in your bio.
- Subscriptions for your most loyal fans, once you've got enough of them.

Common reasons people don't get paid
- Videos under one minute, which earn nothing from the program.
- Views from outside eligible surfaces or from videos that aren't original.
- A strike that pushes the account out of good standing.
- Unfinished payment details, so that earnings just sit there.
- Applying from a business account, which isn't eligible. Switch to a personal account first.
Where to go from here
Check where you stand with our TikTok profile analyzer and the engagement rate calculator, both free. If your audience is engaged and you're short on followers, keep posting long videos and you'll get there. If you want a new profile to look less empty for reasons unrelated to monetization, our TikTok followers page and free trial are there, with the limits this article described.
